Clinical Trials
BRAIN-AF (Rivaroxaban vs SoC)
Coordinator: Nancy (14296) PI: Dr. Nery
Main inclusion: Age 30-62 with AF without indication for anticoag'n
CASPER ( cardiac arrest registry)
Coordinator: Karen (17077) PI: Dr. Birnie/Dr. Green
Main inclusion: <60y with unexplained cardiac arrest without CAD >50% stenosis, reduced EF
PARAPET-II (Risk stratification in ICM with primary prevention ICD >6 months)
Coordinator (Cathy Kelly) ckelly@ottawaheart.ca
PI: Dr. Nair
Main inclusion: Primary prevention ICD > 6 months for ischemic cardiomyopathy
ARTESIA (Apixaban vs ASA in subclinical AF)
Study concluded. NEJM Nov 12, 2023
Main inclusion: Device detected AF >6min and <24h with stroke risk factors without indication for anticoag'n
Conclusion: Among patients with subclinical atrial fibrillation, apixaban resulted in a lower risk of stroke or systemic embolism than aspirin but a higher risk of major bleeding.

AF Database (Cardiocore)
Expectations
Enter data for any patient for which you are in the lab for the ablation.
Staff may ask you to enter data for their patients on their behalf.
Access
Click Zenworks icon (note: Zenworks is only accessible from select computers in the hospital. It is available in EP labs, Fellow's Workroom, and Device Clinic).
Click Cardiocore icon.
Login is linked to your Groupwise login. Ask Alvy Hou for access and/or email IT@ottawaheart.ca.
Data Entry Tips
Be aware: the form does not autosave and requires most data be entered in order to save; be prepared to fill the form completely in one sitting and make sure you click 'save' at the end.
'Date placed on waiting list' is the date the patient was seen in clinic when the procedure request was made.
If Month and Year of a test are provided but no Day, choose the first of the month.
If some specific data is not available, skip it.

VT/PVC Database (ePATS)
General Info
ePATS is an application used for our VT + PVC case database. For each case you are involved in, please enter a new entry in to the database filling in as much information as you are able. If you have ideas for projects, you can request access to the database for research purposes.
Training
There is a short introductory video at R drive/ Cardiocore/ PATS training/ Training for EP (must be accessed on UOHI computer with individual login).
Training for the PATS database can be found at https://epats.pats.ottawaheart.ca/epats/login.htm, or by selecting the ePATS test icon under Zenworks on UOHI computers. The training user name (TRAINEE1); password (ONE). All records of patients are fake, so please feel free play with it.
Access
After completing training, contact Jennifer Lajeunesse for individualized access (contact below).
